EU-China Near-Zero Emissions Coal Final Workshop.
|
The EU-China Near Zero Emissions Coal (NZEC) agreement was signed at the EU-China Summit under the UK’s presidency of the EU in September 2005 as part of the EU-China Partnership on Climate Change. The EU and China also hope the NZEC project can act as a possible model for other bilateral and multilateral technology cooperation projects in the context of Copenhagen.

If no international agreement which includes international maritime emissions in its reduction targets through the IMO has been approved by the Member States or no such agreement through the UNFCCC has been approved by the Community by this deadline, the Commission should make a proposal to include international maritime emissions according to harmonised modalities in the Community reduction commitment, with the aim of the proposed act entering into force by 2013.
