EU Sustainable Energy Week: 22-26 March

12.03.2010

“The time is ripe to shape our energy future”, say the organisers of Europe’s Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW). The organisers, Sustainable Energy Europe (SEE), are running the 4th edition of the EUSEW as part of their umbrella campaign initiated by the European Commission, which will take place in Brussels and other major cities across Europe.

The Campaign sets out to convince the public at large that making a commitment to sustainable energy is an investment for Europe’s future. As part of EUSEW 193 locations will be hosting Energy Days offering a wide range of activities including exhibitions, conferences, performances, open days, workshops and media campaigns. To locate one in your country visit their Energy Days webpage.  The objective of the Energy Days is to point the way to wider use of renewable energy and more rational energy usage.

In Brussels itself, events will be held over 3 days offering visitors conferences and engaging them in sustainable energy discussion.  Day one (23rd March) will also see the presentation of the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards, open to all official partners to the campaign.  Award categories include Market Transformation (working to reduce market barriers and effect positive lasting change) and Cooperation Programmes (working to transfer sustainable energy know-how to developing countries).

Details of EUSEW are available on the address below where you can register for attendance and conferences and find further information on what the week has to offer.  Participants in the event are helped to engage with their city or community in the energy revolution, greening its image and attracting media attention, as well as getting visibility and support for events held in their community or city.
